MAC Cosmetics is teaming up with Disney to create a limited edition color collection, intended to launch globally in late September in all MAC locations. The products will feature four Disney characters, on which the brand is keeping mum at the moment — although with a collection name of Venomous Villains, it is assumed that we’re not talking Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse here. Lipstick, powder, lip gloss and blush shades will be sold, ranging in price from $12 to $29.50.

2010 International Makeup Artist Trade Show Coming to LA Soon!!

May 17, 2010

You have to check out the International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) at the Pasadena Convention Center! It’s the only show that I know of in CA that you don’t need a makeup artist license to attend. I went for the first time last year and I loved it, only wish I had more money to buy products since a lot of what was being sold was discounted so much. It will be help on Saturday 6/26 (8:30am-5pm) and Sunday 6/27 (10am-5pm). Here there will be many makeup schools which you can get information on their programs and many cosmetics brand such as M.A.C cosmetics, Make Up For Ever, NYX, Temptu, and much more! Shu Uemura will be leaving US stores

May 15, 2010

How sad, L’oreal will be phasing out Shu Uemura from department stores and boutiques in the upcoming months due to low sales on the states. Shu Uemura is most know for their eyelash curler and elaborate false eyelashes. I admit I don’t own any of their color cosmetics but I love the eyelash curler and their Pureness oil blotting paper in my past post that I compare with Sonia Kashuk’s blotting paper. I think in the upcoming months we will start to see Shu Uemura’s products on sale at Sephora, Nordstrom and their boutique stores. Stock up on your favorites! You’ll be able to buy the products online still but who wants to pay for shipping. If you have a Shu Uemura eye lash curler recommend you to buy the replacement eyelash curler pads from Nordstrom, they are only $6 to save for later

e.l.f. Tweezer vs. Tweezerman

May 13, 2010

Eyes Lips Face Professional Perfect Tweezers
($1) is a slanted tweezer like Tweezerman’s ($20) for easy and accurate tweezing. Both are made of stainless steel and provides the user with a strong grip that will easily remove unwanted hairs. As you can see from the picture e.l.f.’s doesn’t have the same sharp edges as Tweezer man and it’s width is smaller. I was hoping that e.l.f. would be comparable to Tweezerman. I was unsure but it was only $1 so I gave it a try and actually bought 2 in case it would be really good. I tweeze my eyebrows everyday so it is really important for me to have a good tweezer that won’t take up a lot of my time. With Tweezerman I can pull out a short hair in 1-2 tries but with e.l.f. I had to go back 2-4 times to get it since it kept slipping out. Continue Reading »

The Best Way to Conceal Breakouts

May 12, 2010

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit ($32) also available with concealer only ($22). How horrible is it to wake up and find that you have a big red pimple on your face. Use Bobbi Brown’s concealer to cover up any imperfections. This concealer is very easy to use and there are many shades available to match your your skintone. The best shade to pick is one that is  one shade lighter than your skincolor. This concealer is not drying, doesn’t settle into lines, and applies on very smoothly. I love everything about this product except the packaging. If I forget out it in my car in the summer it becomes a big liquidy mess. Here’s tips on how to conceal it without it looking obvious.

Diorskin Shimmer Star Highlighter

May 10, 2010

Diorskin Shimmer Star in Amber Diamond ($44, 0.35 oz) is a natural looking highlighter. This powder is an ultra-fine, super-blendable formula that easy to apply and gives you a natural luminous sheen. The is available in two shades, Amber Diamond (ivory/champagne/tan/bronze/peach) and Rose Diamond (pearl/pink/mauve/soft plum/pink). This pressed powder’s texture reminds me of a baked powder. What I like about this product is it doesn’t have big pieces of glitter like some other products, it looks very natural when applied on the cheek with a highlighting brush. This highlighter in Amber Diamond is more of a gold-yellow color which I think of as a more traditional color for a highlighter and perfect for those who are tan and Rose Diamond has more of a pink tone which is good for fair-skinned girls.
