OPI The Amazing Spider Man

April 10, 2012

OPI The Amazing Spider Man

Available May 2012

“This film explores a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy that’s going to be both dark and sexy. The colors created for this promotion capture the movie’s exciting atmosphere, with standout shades like the deep shimmering blue Into the Night and the metallic golden green Just Spotted the Lizard.”

The film villain’s reptilian look can be replicated with a high-fashion twist by using the new deep green shimmer Shatter coat.  Shatter the Scales is inspired by graffiti art and works when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Shatter the Scales from matte to glossy in seconds.

OPI Femme de Cirque Collection

April 2, 2011

OPI Femme de Cirque Collection
April 2011

Femme de Cirque by OPI four new breathtakingly dreamy additions to the SoftShades collection, designed to unleash a woman’s inner ring mistress. The collection includes three pink hues and one sheer glitter coat that can be worn on its own or painted over any of the other lacquers for an entirely new look.

  • In the Spot-Light Pink Take center stage with this pretty pop of pink!
  • Step Right Up! And see the most amazing light pink right before your very eyes!
  • So Many Clowns, So Little Time And this creamy nude pink is next on the list.
  • I Juggle…Men clear shimmer coat with iridescent purple
Recommendation: The shades in this collection would best be used as a top coat for french manicures, not so much as a stand along color as the shades are very opaque and require a at least 3 or more layers for most shades to show up. In the Spot-Light Pink would be the best for french manicures with it clear but noticeable pink. The shimmery color, I Juggle…Men is also good to layer over any other colors to create your own look with subtle shimmer. Not crazy about this collection, the majority of the colors are not usable on its own.

Touring America Fall/Winter 2011

OPI hits the open road with a new take on classic style in the Touring America Collection for Fall/Winter 2011. Inspired by Americana and cities with rich cultural heritage, the collection’s twelve shades offer comfortable glamour and wearable elegance for nails and toes.

The season’s go-to shades of taupe and pearl grey appear in variations from dark to light – A-taupe the Space Needle, Get in the Expresso Lane, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, and Suzi Takes the Wheel.  Lush urban neutrals in deep sapphire (Road House Blues), rich raisin (Honk If You Love OPI), chic olive (Uh-oh Roll Down the Window), and coffee brown (I Brake for Manicures) merge with iconic red (Color to Diner For), vivid rose (My Address is “Hollywood”), and luminous coral and orange (I Eat Mainely Lobster, Are We There Yet?) for an expansive color landscape.

  • Are We There Yet? Don’t make me reach back there and take that perfect melon shade!
  • I Eat Mainely Lobster We “clawed” through crowds to catch this coral for you.
  • My Address is “Hollywood” We put this pretty rose-pink on the map.
  • Color to Diner For I’ll take the rosy-red with a side of “awesome.”
  • Honk if You Love OPI Don’t let this gorgeous dark grape pass you by.
  • Road House Blues In this case…R&B stands for “Really Blue.”
  • Suzi Takes the Wheel Buckle up—she’s not stopping until she gets to gray!

OPI Texas Collection Swatches

March 20, 2011

The Texas Collection introduces a new finish from OPI. Unlike thicker creams or light sheers, these twelve shades are slightly translucent – similar to the look of icy, water-based sorbet! To achieve the desired effect, an initial coat of Nail Lacquer should be applied to all ten fingers first – without doubling up coverage.  Be sure to start from the pinky finger on one hand and paint through to the pinky on the other hand; then, after the first coat has dried, apply a second coat.

  • San Tan-tonio Natural looking tan color with a shiny finish
  • It’s Totally Fort Worth It A light shimmery lavender grey
  • Guy Meets Gal-veston Translucent coral
  • Do You Think I’m Tex-y? Translucent berry pink
  • Houston We Have a Purple Translucent magenta purple
Recommendation: The new sorbert like finishes in this collection is really nice. With 1 layer it is too sheer but after 2-3 coats you get a bright color that is still noticeably translucent. The color has lasts for about a week without any major chipping. I would definitely recommend the new shades from the Texas Collection for fun spring colors.

OPI Texas Collection

February 2, 2011

OPI Texas Collection

Available February 2, 2011 ($8.50)

These sorbet-style formulas for nails will be in full swing by 2012, but women can get a jump start on this trend with colors in the Texas Collection .  Unlike thicker creams or light sheers, these twelve shades are slightly translucent – similar to the look of icy, water-based sorbet!

From sea blue and berry pink to tangerine and bright peach, the Texas Collection features classic American colors.  Designed to complement trends from the runway, these candy-coated lacquers accessorize the season’s must-have neutral pieces.

To achieve the desired effect, an initial coat of Nail Lacquer should be applied to all ten fingers first – without doubling up coverage.  Be sure to start from the pinky finger on one hand and paint through to the pinky on the other hand; then, after the first coat has dried, apply a second coat.

  • San Tan-tonio A “honey” of a ten-gallon tan!
  • Suzi Loves Cowboys But she loves this campfire chocolate shade s’more!
  • It’s Totally Fort Worth It A shimmery lavender grey that’s so worthy of you.
  • Don’t Mess with OPI A lean, mean, kick-grass forest green.
  • Austin-tatious Turquoise Cowgirls love this bodacious blue-green.
  • I Vant to Be A-Lone Star You won’t want to share this starry Texas-sky blue.
  • Y’all Come Back Ya Hear? This Texas tangerine will be waitin’ for ya!
  • Big Hair…Big Nails A rosy pageant peach.
  • Guy Meets Gal-veston An “engaging” coastal coral.
  • Too Hot Pink to Hold ‘Em A red-hot pink-red that deals a winning hand.
  • Do You Think I’m Tex-y? A “berry” sexy bloom of Dallas dahlia.
  • Houston We Have a Purple A galactic red-violet that’s ready to “rocket roll”!

Katy Perry Collection by OPI

January 17, 2011

Katy Perry Collection by OPI ($8)

  • Teenage Dream Big glitter and microglitter, clear with a hint of pink
  • Not Like the Movies Metallic purple/green with some glitter, 2 coats
  • Last Friday Night Big glitter and microglitter, clear with a hint of blue
  • The One That Got Away Glittery magenta, 2 coats
  • Black Shatter a cracked pattern appears when applied over each dried bright lacquer
  • Simply Smashing (Serena Williams Collection) yellow with glitter

I am not a big fan of the big glittery shades but the other shades are really nice. For the Black Shatter you need to use it over dry nail polish and it doesn’t work with just any nail polish. It dries best on top of OPI nail polish. I tried using it over MAC and nothing happened. When the Black Shatter dries it starts to shrink up and create the separate black pieces on your nail.
