Eyes lips face (e.l.f.) Eyebrow Kit ($3) can create brows that are fuller, thicker, and more defined with its pigmented wax and color complementing setting powder. The doubled sided taklon brush has one side to help arch your brows while the other side aids in filling them in. This duo provides lasting color definition for a naturally beautiful look. To use, define and shape the brows with the pigmented brow gel using the angled brush for precise lines. Set the color with the brow powder using the blending brush for a natural finished look. (The above shades in the picture are light for e.l.f. and medium for Benefit)
Initially I was so disappointed with this eyebrow kit when I first saw it because I was expecting a pigmented brow powder and a neutral colored wax like Smashbox’s Brow Tech, which is what I have been using for a long time. I was running low on the Brow Tech and decided to look for a new eyebrow powder, that’s why I bought this. My previous experience with a product similar to this was with Benefit’s Brow Zings ($30) which I disliked and returned. Benefit’s gel was still too dark for me and streaky when I applied it using the angled brush it came with. I used light for both Benefit and e.l.f.. Brow Zings looked unnatural on me and the gel was a little hard/dry so it was hard to get the product on the brush. With e.l.f.’s eyebrow kit it was very easy to get the product onto the brush and it blended very well to create a natural look. The setting powder did not add extra pigmentation to my eyebrows so I did not need to worry about my eyebrows looking darker than what I wanted.
At $3 for e.l.f. and $30 for Benefit e.l.f. is cheaper and what I believe to be the better product. The only difference is Benefit’s Brow Zings comes with a mini tweezer but I found that useless. It hurt my muscles to use and couldn’t pull out any stray hairs. I am very excited to have found a replacement for my current brow powder and at a cheaper price! I just don’t know how well the brow powder will hold under hot weather since it has not been very hot yet but if you remember to use the setting powder it should stay in place. Also, the packing is just like NARS therefore it is compact. The only downside to this product is that I can’t leave it in my makeup bag in the car on a hot day since it might melt out of the metal pan and make a mess.
