Murad 90-Day Rapid Lightening Regimen

March 11, 2016

Murad’s Rapid Lightening Regimen is a full 90-day supply to treat skin discoloration from the 4 major causes of hyperpigmentation: sun, genetics, hormones, and inflammation. Each product in the 90-Day Rapid Lightening Regimen treats hyperpigmentation at the source so you can start seeing brighter-looking, more even skin tone in as little as 7 days. The regimen is conveniently labeled with Step 1 Cleanse, Step 2 Treat, and Step 3 Hydrate so that you know the correct order of applying the products.

Step 1 Essential-C Cleanser ($36)
The Vitamin-C rich Essential-C Cleanser removes skin-dulling impurities to renew skin’s radiance. This facial cleaner is a gel like consistency that doesn’t foam up and has small microbeads for exfoliation. After use it does not leave my skin feeling tight and dry like some other cleansers.

Step 2 Intensive-C Radiance Peel ($55)
Leave this mask on over your face, neck, and chest for up to 10 minutes for a tingly refreshing feel to help minimize skin discolorations. The mask can be used 1-2 times a week for best results.

Step 2 Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum ($60)
The Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum contains 2% Hydroquinone which lightens dark spots and skin discoloration. This is the same active ingredient as prescription skin lighteners but at half the strength. The pump makes it easy to get the same amount of serum each time and one pump is just enough to cover the entire face. It absorbs quickly and has a slight citrus alcohol smell but is not noticeable once applied. After a few weeks use I am starting to see and evening of my complexion but it will take more time to completely lighten discolorations.

Step 2 Advanced Active Radiance Serum ($90)
Use a pea-sized amount evenly over your face, neck, and chest during the day in place of the Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum. The serum is very lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin allowing you to continue applying your makeup.

Step 3 Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($60)
Our Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++, rich in Vitamin-C and antioxidants, revitalizes and protects your skin from further damage. This sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen so make sure you apply it at least 15 minutes before sun exposure. The Vitamin C in this sunscreen also helps prevent future discolorations. It absorbs quickly and has a light scent. It does not pill under foundation allowing for a smooth application.

Recommendation: Overall this is a great set of products for reversing sun damage. I am seeing some promising results and my skin feels smoother. I would highly recommend the Lightening Serum and the Essential-C Sunscreen if you were to choose a few products from this line. Make sure you use these products every day for best results and keep your skin away from direct sunlight.
Disclosure: This product was sent for consideration by BeautyStat and the above are my opinions not influenced by other parties.

Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret

September 27, 2014

Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret ($100) Gives you a revolutionary new way to instantly create beautiful curls. This one-of-a-kind styling tool gently draws hair into its exclusive tourmaline ceramic curl chamber without putting too much tension on hair thus protecting your hair’s elasticity. With Curl Secret, styling is effortless and superior curls are foolproof. Just choose the your combination of heat and timing for your desired look, open the handles and place hair in the curl chamber. Press to close, and hair is drawn in and surrounded by heat from all directions. When the timer signals the curl is ready, simply open to release a perfect curl.

Recommendation: This curler has has 3 timer settings: 8 ,10, and 12 seconds and a low and high temperature setting. You can choose how loose or tight you want your curl by using the different heat and timer settings. For a looser curl you’d choose less time and low or high heat depending on your hair type. If it is thick it may require more heat and time. The great thing about this curler is all you need to do is separate a 1 inch section to insert into the curler and it does all the work for you. Usually when I curl my hair with a regular hair curler my hair can turn out a little frizzy if I don’t comb through my hair sections. I was able to curl my hair in less than 10 minutes, a lot faster than it does with a traditional curler. If you’re worried about your hair getting stuck inside the curler then don’t. The hair comes out very easily when you unclamp the curler. I used the 10 second and high heat setting with some hair spray to get the loose waves pictured.  This is a great new innovative hair curler that everyone who wants to do their hair quickly should have but at the price it is currently I would wait for a sale before getting it.

Sephora Summer 2013 Collection

September 2, 2013

Sephora’s summer collection is made to last through this season’s long hot days and sultry nights. Summer is coming to an end so snag these items before they are gone forever.

  • Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Trio ($20) features a matte satin blush and bronzer with a coordinating luminizer. This trio will contour, define, and highlight your face to perfection. The micronized pigments ensure effortless application for a no-makeup feel and a natural radiant finish. This is available in 4 different shades.
  • Sephora Contour Eye Pencil 12HR Wear ($9) is a waterproof eye pencil that creates an intense, bold line in one stroke. The pencil features a blend of avocado oil and vitamin E for a creamy, ultra-gentle, ultra-glide application with a array of 35 different shades.
  • Sephora SPF 30 Sunscreen Body Mist ($20) lets you have sun protection while having fun in the sun. It’s a lightweight mist formula with UVA and UVB protection without leaving a sticky film behind. It’s nozzle can be used in multiple positions to ensure you are protected from head to toe.
  • Sephora Tinted Self Tanning Body Mist ($6) Is a travel size self-tanning body mist for a quick and easy application.
  • Sephora 8 Hr Mattifying Moisturizer Sunscreen ($22) is an oil-free moisturizer that prevents the skin from shining for up to 8 hours. It forms a protective barrier on the skin’s surface to harness and retain water for optimal hydration. The formula also contains UVA/UVB filters and antioxidants to help combat the signs on aging.
Review: My favorite product is the 8 Hr Mattifying Moisturizer Sunscreen, especially living in hot Arizona. The sunscreen is lightweight and doesn’t leave the sunscreen smell with an SPF of 20. I didn’t have high hopes that my skin would matte, especially in this weather. Surprisingly my skin was not as oily as it normally would be even when I do use a mattifying primer. It is great that I can keep my face looking clean and protected from the sun at the same time. To protect the rest of your body the SPF 30 Sunscreen Mist offers lightweight protection but I feel it is a little overpriced for what you can already get at drugstores which have a higher SPF. The sculpting trio comes in 4 different shades so that you can find the right colors for your face. The trio makes it easy to bring 1 product while traveling that will provide you with all the colors neede to highlight and define your face. The colors are lightweight and blend easily allowing you to blend out the color if you applied too much initially for the perfect look. Finally you can finish your look with the waterproof eyeliner that comes in so many shades you’ll be sure to find one for you. The eyeliner didn’t last too long on my waterline but didn’t budge on my eyelid.

New Polo Red by Ralph Lauren

September 2, 2013

Polo Red is the new cologne by Ralph Lauren featuring a fiery mix of spicy red saffron, fresh red grapefruit and deep red wood. Top notes are red grapefruits, Italian cedrat, and red cranberry with base notes of red cedarwood, amber, and coffee berry.

This cologne comes in 3 sizes: 125ml ($76), 75ml ($61), and 45ml ($44) and is also offered in a deodorizing body spray ($20), balm ($18), and a deodorant ($40).

Review: This cologne is not overwhelmingly strong, it does have a spicy scent that leaves a slight kick due to the red saffron. The addition of red grapefruit adds a fresh scent that opposes the more woody notes balancing the scent from being too strong. I would recommend this for someone who is looking for a noticeable but not too in your face scent like some others which can leave you or those near you with a headache. This scent is great for any guy, I don’t mind smelling it all day

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara

August 28, 2013

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara ($24) gives volume, length, curl and precision captured in a single mascara. This mascara envelopes the lash surface in ultra-black pigments for extravagant impact from any distance and precision up-close. The pro quality cone shaped brush has an instant effect in one stroke – the precision tip separates and accentuates lashes as the rounded base creates extravagant volume. Rather than a straight brush, Smoky Extravagant has a unique conic shape which allows every lash to be coated from root to tip. The conic shape is designed with a fine brush tip to reach even the smallest of lashes effortlessly and a full base to deliver high impact length and curl at first stroke. Inside the bottle, the wiper is designed to dispense enough product while remaining clump free.

Review: The innovation with this mascara is the shape of the brush. I found its shape helpful when applying mascara to the smaller lashes on the inside and outside of the eye. The smaller tip prevented accidental pokes to the eye and mascara on the skin. The formula goes on smoothly and clump free even after putting on a second layer and it removes easily without leaving racoon eyes. Ultimately, this mascara delievers what it claims to do, lashes with volume!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Polka Dots and Holographic Nail Effects

August 22, 2013

Maybelline introduces the Polka Dot Line ($3.99) creating spot-happy nail art that doesn’t require a steady hand or hours to create a cute fun design. Polka dots are instantly created when applied to the nail with varying sizes of black and white dots in bright nail color. Colors available are blue, orange, jade green, and pink.

Along with the Polka Dot Line, Maybelline also the Holographic line ($3.99) that offers metallic pearl color giving nails a new dimension in nail color. The colors shift to different shades depending on the angle and light. Colors are available in blue, rose pink, green, lavender and gold.

Review: The Polka Dot Line is a cute idea for nail art. I like the bright colors available to give nails a fun pop of color. To get an even layer of color you need at least 3 layers which can become a little chunky on your nail because of the “polka dots.” Depending on how much of the polka dots are on the brush you can get varying degrees of polka dots on each nail which lets you customize a little bit of how many dots you want. I really liked the idea of the polka dots but for me it ended up looking a little too cluttered and chunky on my nails. The polka dot nail polish is not ideal for someone who wants to apply nail polish quickly, you’ll need time to evenly paint the dots on for the best look.

The Holographic Line has pretty metallic colors but some are similar in shade like the blue and purple and the rose and gold. The color was easy to apply and you’ll need only about 2 layers which dried rather quickly. So far the color lasts for at least 5 days without chipping. If you like metallic colors I’d recommend these new polish colors over the polka dots.

Make Up For Ever Artisan Brush Collection

August 20, 2013

MUFE is introducing a revolution in brushes with the release of 76 cutting edge brushes, making it the most expansive luxury brush collection available today. This collection includes the makeup artist’s everyday brushes and also customized tools to create artistic effects. These brushes are made of synthetic fiber but they mimic the silky softness of natural hair. These synthetic fibers are available in two different types: straight and wavy. The type used is determined by the specific use of the brush. The brush handle is made of beech wood and has a beveled end that can be used to assist in false eyelash application.

The collection’s brush classification makes it easy for artists to distinguish the use of each brush:
100s= complexion
200s= eyes
300s= lips
400s= artistic specially designed for professionals

Recommendation: Love that MUFE came out with their own brush collection to complement their fabulous makeup products. The synthetic fibers of these brushes are surprisingly soft and silky just like MUFE claims it to be. The synthetic fibers make it easier to clean the brushes without leaving makeup residue left over like some of the natural hair brushes. The wavy type of fiber is not as wavy as you would expect upon a closer look. The waves make the brush less dense and allows for good pickup of powders for an even coverage. I would highly recommend you to check out these brushes in stores or online. With so many brushes to choose from you’ll find the perfect one for you with prices ranging from $13 – $55.
